"The European Population Conference took place in Geneva from 23 to
26 March 1993....The Conference was convened with the following
objectives: to review, examine and analyse key population-related
issues in the countries of the region (which includes Europe and North
America); to evaluate the implementation of population-related policies
in those countries; and to prepare a set of recommendations addressing
key population-related issues and policies in the region....The
Proceedings of the Conference are recorded in two volumes [The] first
volume...contains the opening statements and, for each of the five
themes, the basic document submitted by the rapporteur as well as the
comments presented by the discussant. The second volume [contains] the
country statements, and statements by international organizations and
NGOs, as well as the text of the recommendations adopted by the
Conference (in English, French and Russian) and the list of
participants." The text of the recommendations is also published
separately.
