Bureau of Statistics (Belconnen, Australia). Family
Survey, Australia, 1982 [MRDF]. [1987?]. Social Science Data
Archives [distributor]: Belconnen, Australia. In Eng.
This data
file contains information collected in 1982 on "the characteristics of
Australian families....The survey was based on a sample of private and
non-private dwellings covering approximately one third of one percent
of Australia's population....Information collected included size and
composition of the family, age, sex, marital status and other
demographic characteristics of family members, income and other
financial support received by the family, use of child care services,
support services received by the aged, and reasons for leaving the
parental home. Data is available on four levels--households, families,
income units, and persons--enabling records to be linked across
different units, to broaden the scope of the analysis of family
characteristics." The file is also available directly from the
Australian Bureau of Statistics.

experience, income, noncash benefits, and migration. Comprehensive
information is given on the employment status, occupation, and industry
of persons 14 years old and over....Data on employment and income refer
to the preceding year, although demographic data refer to the time of
the survey....Characteristics such as age, sex, race, household
relationship, and Spanish origin are shown for each person in the
household enumerated." Accompanying documentation is also available.

Projections of the Population of States, by Age, Sex and Race: 1988
to 2010 [MRDF]. 1989. Washington, D.C. Distributed by U.S. Bureau
of the Census [producer and distributor]. In Eng.
"This file
contains annual projections of the resident population for the 50
[U.S.] States and the District of Columbia by single years of
age...,and race...for years 1986 through 2010. These projections
utilize a mathematical projection model known as the cohort-component
method. This method permits separate assumptions to be made for each
of the components of population change: births, deaths, internal
migration and international migration." The file structure is
rectangular, with a record size of 800 characters and a record count of
15,600. Accompanying documentation is provided. The file is available
on two tapes at 1600 bpi for 350 U.S. dollars or on one tape at 6250
bpi for 175 U.S. dollars.
