The fertility data are given by the woman's characteristics and also by the characteristics of the woman combined with those of the husband and by the characteristics of the woman combined with those of the entire household."

Sections A-I include commentaries, tables and diagrams on major demographic indicators of the New Zealand population. This annual collection of international population statistics presents data on some 220 countries or areas around the world. The data are primarily from official national sources, supplemented in certain cases by estimates prepared by the U.N. Population Division. "The tables in the Yearbook are presented in two parts, the basic tables followed by the tables devoted to fertility, the special topic in this issue. The first part contains tables giving a world summary of basic demographic statistics, followed by tables presenting statistics on the size, distribution and trends in population, mortality, nuptiality and divorce....In the second part, summary tables on natality are followed by those presenting natality data by age of mother; by birth order; by age of father and by type of birth, birth-weight and gestational age. Following these are groups of tables on legitimate fertility by age of parents and duration of married life, foetal deaths, legally induced abortion, female population by children ever born and children surviving and live births to women under 20. Data are shown by urban/rural residence in many of the tables."
