This report presents results from the Sample Registration System (SRS) of India for 1981. The system, which is based on the dual record system, is the main source of accurate estimates on fertility and mortality at state and national levels in the presence of deficiencies in the civil registration system as a whole. The report contains an analysis of the data on population composition by age, fertility, and mortality. Consideration is given to fertility and mortality differentials by age, sex, state, and rural or urban residence, and to changes in these differentials during recent years.
"An additional feature of this report is that an attempt has been made to provide estimates of net reproduction rates on the basis of SRS based abridged life tables and SRS age-specific fertility rates."

The present publication contains an introductory analysis of demographic developments in the Netherlands in 1981.
Data are included on population by sex, age, and marital status, the alien population, and Netherland's citizens residing abroad; population dynamics, 1942-1981; nuptiality, including age at marriage and divorce; fertility, including birth intervals and illegitimacy; mortality, including life expectancy; and migration, including both internal and international migration. Summary tabulations from the final natality statistics for the United States for 1984 are presented. Selected data for previous years are also included. Topics covered in the analysis include geographic variations in nuptiality, sex ratio, month and day of week of birth, place of delivery, age of father, birth weight, multiple births, illegitimacy, birth intervals, educational status, ethnic group and nationality, prenatal care, and period of gestation.
The provisional data suggest an increase in the total number of births over 1983 of about two percent, although the birth rate remained about the same at 15.5 per 1,000. Differences in age-specific fertility rates are noted. The overall fertility rate declined from 65.8 in 1983 to 65.4.
