"The file provides a count of persons living in a specified county in 1980 who were residents of a different specified county in 1975. (Movers from abroad are not included.)" Summary statistics are provided for all U.S. counties and county equivalents and for the District of Columbia.

This file contains 165,471 logical records (with a record length of 702 characters) and has accompanying technical documentation. "Data are provided on labor force activity for the week prior to the survey. Comprehensive data are available on the employment status, occupation, and industry of persons 14 years old and over. Also shown are personal characteristics such as age, sex, race, marital status, veteran status, household relationship, educational background, and Spanish origin. In addition, data pertaining to marital history and fertility are included on the file."
The unit of observation is the individual within housing units. A probability sample of 71,000 households was selected to represent the universe of all U.S. civilians living in households.

This is a directory of the machine readable data files of the Data and Program Library Service at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. It provides access to the files by subject, author, title, and geographical region. Information is also included on the files' accessibility to outside users. The geographical focus of the collection is worldwide. The subject classification includes a section on enumerative statistics, consisting primarily of censuses, and subsections on aging and on family planning and fertility.
