These two volumes provide biographies of 3,363 individuals from 99 countries who are demographers or have otherwise made a contribution to the study of demography. The biographies are arranged in alphabetical order, with A to L in the first volume and M to Z in the second. For each entry, data are included on name, sex, birth and death dates, nationality, principal career positions, and professional publications. An appendix classifying the entries by nationality and an index of individuals and subjects are found in the second volume.
This work is part of a general reference work on demography. Other parts present information on terms, concepts, and institutions, and a multilingual glossary of demographic terms.
